In the short amount of time I’ve had to shoot lately, I’ve been trying new things.
Polaroid Duochrome Yellow. My only regret from its last release was not being able to buy more before it sold out, leaving me to aquire just two packs second-hand. Fortunately, with its re-release, I managed to secure a few more packs. The images here are from the very first pack. They were all taken using the Polaroid I-2 camera. Though I love my SX-70, the I-2's manual control and the ability to create multiple exposures without hacks intrigued me. It's a different experience from shooting with an SLR like the SX-70, but the camera offers unique benefits.
Multiple Exposure Polaroids of Raised Docks. During a stay at my in-laws' lakeside home in Northern Minnesota, I ventured onto the early-season ice, a solid six inches thick, with my dog, sticking close to the shoreline for safety. Observing the docks, hinged at the shore and cranked skyward to avoid the freezing water, inspired me. I decided to experiment with double exposures, and these are some of the first results.
Ice at Night. The aforementioned ice on the lake was unusually clear that weekend, with no snow to obscure it. Lacking decent lighting, I used a flashlight to illuminate the ice from beneath, capturing the fissures and formations. Although this was a limited experiment, it has given me some ideas for new shots in the future.
Thanks for looking!
Intrigue.
